Bikeworks is one of our favorite local nonprofits. They help kids learn how to build and repair bikes and provide an affordable community bike shop in the Rainier Valley.
And they’re having a fabulous fundraiser with a fabulous band: Po’ Girl. Here’s what one reviewer thinks of them:
“naturally soulful vocals; neatly paced, neatly spaced instrumentals, and a clinging bittersweetness that can’t be bought or bottled”
~ Paula DeAnda
Here are the details:

Alchemy Goods has partnered with One Reel (producers of Bumbershoot) to make limited edition bags for this year’s music fest. Stop by our booth to check them out.

In their previous life, these bags spent five years flanking Bumbershoot’s legendary Mainstage. Between 2002 and 2006, your bag shared the stage with the likes of R.E.M., Death Cab for Cutie, Kanye West, Black Eyed Peas, The Pixies, Lou Reed, De La Soul, Elvis Costello, Sonic Youth, Steve Miller Band, Wyclef Jean, Wilco, Modest Mouse, Macy Gray, The Shins and many more. In addition to the banner material in yellow, red, orange or green, the bag consists of reclaimed seat belts and bicycle inner tubes. Measures 10″ x 4.5″ x 10″, and is 89% recycled by weight. The bags have a reinforced bottom made from bicycle inner tubes, inside and outside pockets and a recycled valve stem zipper pull.
The Bumber Bags are on sale now at these Red Balloon stores. Or you can find them at the main Bumbershoot merch tent. As usual we’ll be there too. Stop by our booth for the lastest and greatest Ag gossip, new products, and recycled bags. We’ll be in the “Indie Market” area. We’re the ones with the recycled bags.

And that’s why, throughout the year, our special bin of manufacturer “seconds” slowly accumulates bags. All the products that don’t quite make the grade get set aside to sell on a discount basis. These items have anything from minor aesthetic blemishes to accidental extra stitching. The one thing that all these products do have in common is that they will be marked down 10% - 40%, and they will all be available at the first ever Alchemy Goods Seconds Sale:
Alchemy Goods Seconds Sale
Thursday, July 24th: 11am- 5pm
Ag Workshop - 3220 1st Ave S, Ste 400, Seattle, WA 98134
We are teaming up with ShopSoDo’s annual summer sidewalk sale to offer these items. So after you are finished searching for hidden treasures in our bin of seconds, you can head over to any number of other local SoDo stores offering similar clearance items. The entire Sodo district will be offering sale items Thursday through Sunday of this week. See you Thursday!
Summer is here in Seattle, in a big way. The sun is shining, the water is inviting, and everyone seems to have a bounce in their step. We’ve got a new bag out that says summer all over it. It’s a smaller version of our Ad Bag, and has a top closure and an internal cell phone compartment. We call it the Fremont.

The bag was named in tribute to our beginnings. Nearly five years ago Alchemy Goods began selling bags at a booth each week at the Fremont Sunday Market. Our workshop was shoehorned into a nearby basement. Now our bags can be found at stores around the world, and we have a beautiful workshop in Seattle’s Sodo neighborhood. We will always honor Fremont as the start of it all.
For more information on this new bag, check out the Fremont product page. Like our other banner bags, it’s available in a variety of colors that change every time we produce a new batch. We hope you like the bag!
